FireQual is a specialist Awarding Body for the fire protection industry and FDC is a FireQual approved Training Centre for its Timber Based Fire Doors: Awareness, Installation, Maintenance & Inspection training programmes.
AFDI
The Affiliation of Fire Door Inspectors is a not-for-profit body which aims to help raise industry standards. Neil Ashdown of FDC holds the office of Chairman.
FDIS
The Fire Door Inspection Scheme (FDIS) is a training and certification body. Neil Ashdown, Managing Director at FDC, has passed both the FDIS Inspector certification course, and the FDIS Diploma. He was formerly Manager of the FDIS, delivering fire door related training courses between 2012 and 2015.
Independent Fire Inspections Ltd
The training arm of IFI Group Ltd, Independent Fire Training Ltd offers courses accredited by the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (IFSM) and recognised by the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE). Neil at FDC was awarded the Fire Stopping Inspection Diploma, further improving his expert knowledge of the industry for future customers.
BRE Global
The BRE Academy Fire Door Inspector and Fire Door Installation & Maintenance qualifications cover vital knowledge, and were created by BRE together with the Door and Hardware Federation (DHF). Neil has passed the examinations for both of those qualifications.
Doorcheck Ltd
The Fire Door Inspector certification from Doorcheck Ltd is third party accredited, increases expert knowledge and ensures Legal Compliance to RRFSO (2005) Statutory requirement/Building Regulations. Neil achieved Doorcheck certification in November 2019.
NOCN Group
Fire Doors Complete has been an NOCN approved Training Centre for SiteRight courses since August 2021.
CITB NI
The FDC training courses have been registered by CITB NI for grant assistance for in-scope employers.

FDC’s Managing Director, Neil Ashdown, has over forty years’ experience in the timber, joinery and fire door industries, holding management positions for 35 years plus. During this time, he managed his business within the scope of the BWF-Certifire scheme.

This training package is intended for those who already have practical fire door installation skills, but require more information about the regulations surrounding timber-based fire doors. The training applies to both new and existing properties.
This training package is designed for those who require more information about how to properly maintain and repair fire doors in accordance with UK regulations. Delegates will be able to confidently comply with legislation surrounding timber-based fire doors.
This training package is designed for those who have a caretaker role at a building. These delegates do not need to have technical fire door knowledge and skills, but will learn how to spot defects in fire doors and report them to the building manager.
This training package is designed for those who inspect fire doors for their clients. Candidates are expected to have prior knowledge of timber doors and/or building safety. The course will equip delegates with the skills and knowledge to become professional fire door inspectors.
This course promotes awareness of appropriate fire door installation to construction and manufacturing industries. The course has been developed in collaboration between the National Open College Network (NOCN) and the British Woodworking Federation.
